LISA JENNINGS
NEW PAINTINGS
Lisa's new paintings are a combination of drawing and encaustics. Lyrical and expressive drawings that have always been inspired by nature have become even more developed as Lisa and her family recently moved to to a more natural and rural setting. A variety of trees, birds, and animals are part of her daily visual imagery. These ideas are now incorporated into her new encaustic paintings.

"My art mentors such as , Sam Gilliam, David Driskell , Keith Morrison, Martha Jackson-Jarvis ,Tim Davis, and so many more, are strong , determined individuals who balanced family and art making and influenced my paintings and my artistic life over the years and were and are close friends. These individuals have been and still are so important to me and in my wanting to continue my work in the studio.
In looking back, I also thought that teaching students would lessen and inhibit my ability to paint, but through teaching others, I have grown in my technique and my passion for wanting to express myself through my chosen media.
My mentors are always in my thoughts while I am making art as I hope that my influence in mentoring others, will have a continued , positive impact on their lives as future art makers."
